Plant Lab Tips: Winter

With the arrival of winter, the Plant Lab has a few more tips for plant parents:

  • Hanging plants and plants on higher shelves may dry out due to heater use - check these a little more often than your other plants.

  • We usually see more yellowing leaves during dormancy - some plants just won’t have the energy to keep summer leaves alive and is normal.

  • Plants can be very sensitive to cold drafts and windows - check to be sure leaves aren’t pressed up against the glass!

  • When watering, check the temperature of the water - you may need to use slightly warmer water (aim for room temp) - very cold water can shock roots!

  • Some plants, but especially variegated ones may need to be moved to brighter rooms to continue growing normally.

We’re always here to help! Feel free to leave comments below, reach out to us on IG, or see us in the Plant Lab for any plant questions!
