Other Names: African Face Mask

Difficulty Level: Medium

Light: Medium to High

This plant will thrive in bright indirect light, but can tolerate medium light and direct east facing sun exposure for a couple hours.

Watering

This beautiful plant likes to have its soil kept evenly damp, not overly saturated. Avoid getting it bogged down and soggy by trying to keep it “damp”. Water once the top 1-2 inches of soil is dry.

Facts:

  • One of the most finicky plants in the Alocasia family

  • Likes more peaty soil

  • Can be propagated by roots pups or ‘corms’

Warning Signs: Mushy stems or yellow/brown spotted leaves are a key sign of root rot and may need more light/less water.
